Price under pressure, good things come in threes for Al-Attiyah There was a fair amount of chaos in the Peruvian dunes on the penultimate stage of the 2019 Dakar Rally. For many it was a final chance to claw back some serious time on their rivals. The soft sands of Pisco ended up biting hard and took the Dakar’s most successful ever competitor out of the race.
Dakar Rally Stage 8 - San Juan de Marcona to Pisco
Al-Attiyah extends lead while Price pushes through pain The Dakar Rally continued to throw up surprises on Stage 8 as many heavyweights on the leaderboard struggled in 40°C heat on the sand dunes of the 360km special stage to Pisco. Peugeot privateer Sebastien Loeb catapulted his way up the rankings in the car category after a supreme show of strength saw the Frenchman win his fourth stage of 2019.
Every little bit helps for Brabec and Peterhansel The first loop of stage 7 of the 2019 Dakar Rally had plenty of competitors going around in circles as they tried to find their way back to the bivouac in San Juan de Marcona. With over 300 kilometers of desert racing against the clock there were further fluctuations in the leaderboards by the time the dust had settled.

The sixth stage of the world’s toughest race got the second and final week of this Dakar underway. The dunes of Peru’s Tanaka region were in unforgiving mood as some high-profile racers saw their chances of success severely dented.
