Tony Stewart Leads 2020 NASCAR Hall of Fame Class
  NASCAR
Three-time Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series champion Tony Stewart will join the NASCAR Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2020, arguably the most interconnected group of five inductees yet to be voted into the sport's most prestigious fraternity, as announced Wednesday at the Hall of Fame. Joining Stewart in the Class of 2020 are car owner Joe Gibbs, fellow series driver Bobby Labonte, crew chief and engine builder Waddell Wilson and hard-charging former driver Buddy Baker.

McLaren didn't deserve to make the Indy 500
They were unprepared for the challenge that is the Indy 500
McLaren looked like a bunch of rank amateurs at Indy this past week and most could see there was a good chance they would miss making the Indy 500 from the day they unloaded. By the slimmest of margins, Fernando Alonso missed making the field of 33 cars for the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500 scheduled for Sunday. Kyle Kaiser posted a 4-lap average of 227.372 while Alonso’s was 227.353; a difference of just 0.019 mph was the difference between the 33rd and 34th place cars as part of the Last Row Shootout. Kaiser was in. Alonso was out.

Simon Pagenaud wins pole for 103rd Indy 500
  by Tim Wohlford
In a high-drama day, delayed by rain, Penske Chevy driver Simon Pagenaud put up 3 laps over 230 mph and averaged 229.992 mph over 4-laps to win the pole for the 103rd Indy 500 - the 18th Indy 500 pole for Team Penske. The Ed Carpenter Chevy team took the other two front row spots with Ed Carpenter 2nd quick and Ed Jones putting up the 3rd best 4-lap average. But perhaps the biggest shock of the day was F1 team McLaren and 2-time F1 champion Fernando Alonso failing to make the race - just too slow by 13/1000th of a second over the 10 mile run.
Sage, Hinch and Kyle in... and Alonso is OUT!
  by Tim Wohlford
So much for the snotty F1 fans thinking their series is superior. McLaren and Fernando Alonso were bumped out of the Indy 500 by the minnow IndyCar team Juncos and their young American Kyle Kaiser. Sage Karam, James Hinchcliffe and Kyle Kaiser are all in the 2019 Indy 500.  Fernando Alonso, Pato O'Ward and Max Chilton are out of the race.  Team officials emphatically rule out a ride-buy for Fernando, so, he's out...
F1 Greats Don't Always Have Fun at Indy
  by Tim Wohlford
Should Fernando Alonso not make the Indy 500 this year -- and the odds are not in his favor -- then he will join a long line of F1 greats (and also-rans) who came to Indy just to have a miserable time.  From Ascari to Andretti, F1 success has often been allusive -- and sometimes the results have been catastrophic.  Consider the long list of woe encountered by just a few of the F1 drivers....
